Dentistry is different from general practice. A dentist needs to know the condition of each tooth, plan treatment over several visits, and bill work as it is completed. General clinic software with a free-text note box does not do that well, which is why many dental clinics in Pakistan still keep charts on paper. Dental clinic software brings the chart, the treatment plan and the bill together.
The tooth chart
Our dental module has a clickable tooth chart for adults (32 teeth) and children (20 teeth). Click a tooth to record its condition, such as caries, filling, root canal, crown or missing, choose the affected surfaces and add notes. The chart shows the whole mouth at a glance, and the next dentist to see the patient knows exactly what was done.
Treatment plans over several visits
- Plan treatment for a tooth from the same chart pop-up.
- Give each treatment a priority: urgent, normal or elective.
- Track each treatment's status as visits go by.
- When an extraction is completed, the tooth is marked missing on the chart automatically.
Billing what was actually done
Tick the completed treatments and one invoice is created, listing each item by tooth, for example "Composite Filling (tooth 24)". Once a treatment is billed it cannot be edited or deleted, which keeps the accounts honest. Patients can pay in parts, by cash, card, bank transfer, Easypaisa or JazzCash.
Paper chart vs dental software
| Task | Paper chart | Dental clinic software |
|---|---|---|
| Tooth record | Hand-drawn chart in a file | Clickable chart with conditions and surfaces |
| Treatment plan | Notes in the margin | Planned treatments with priority and status |
| Billing | Worked out from memory | Invoice from completed treatments, by tooth |
| Follow-up | Patient forgets the next visit | WhatsApp or SMS reminders |
| History | File may be lost | Every visit on the patient profile |
Everything else a dental clinic needs
The dental module sits on top of a full clinic management system: patient registration with MR numbers, appointments and tokens, prescriptions with an Urdu option, billing, staff permissions (reception can view the chart but not change it), online booking and reminders. New dental clinics start with dental services, fees and common medicines already loaded.
Multi-visit treatments
Root canals and orthodontic work run over several visits. Reminders for the next sitting are one of the easiest ways to keep treatment plans on track.
Questions dentists ask
Does it work for a single-chair practice?
Yes. A solo dentist uses the same system as a multi-dentist clinic, with plans priced by the number of doctors.
Can my assistant enter data?
Yes. You decide what each staff member can do, for example letting an assistant record the chart while reception handles appointments and billing.
Our dental module is part of the clinic system offered through CareSuite 380, and specialist hospitals can use our Hospital & Clinic Management System, which includes dental charts. Book a free demo for your dental clinic.
