The Challenge

  • People in the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had little access to the KP Local Government Act and did not know their rights under it.
  • The legal text existed only as dense documents, out of reach for citizens with limited literacy.
  • Information had to reach people on phones and at public kiosks, in the languages they speak.

Our Solution

  • Wrote plain-language content for the KP Local Government Act and translated it into Urdu, Pashto and English.
  • Produced professional Urdu and Pashto voiceovers so citizens can listen instead of read.
  • Built Agahi Baldiat (the AudioPedia project) as an Android app, an iPhone app, a web portal and a kiosk version for public mobile kiosks.
  • Connected the apps to the Local Government web applications with secure, real-time data sync.

The Results

  • Apps published on Google Play and the Apple App Store, alongside the web portal and kiosks.
  • Citizens in the merged districts can read or listen to their rights in their own language.
  • Delivered with the support and recognition of GIZ Pakistan.
